Here some images from my last trip to Bavary, an amazing region of Germany. As you may see, I was focussed on the castles of the Bavarian King Ludwig II, builder of the well known castle of Neuschwanstein, which is now closely associated with Germay. Also a short trip to the Zugspitze peak, the highest point in Germany, I had a superb weather as you can appreciate in the pictures.

On every corner there are small markets with interesting clothing for Dancers in Egypt style.

The “Dromos” or the street flanqued with sphinxs. This street connected the Luxor and the Karnak Temple, the rest of the streets can be still be observed in some places.

I had the opportunity to take some images of Berlin. The weather was miserabily, so I could only take some pictures at night and only for a short period of time (unfortunately it was so cold that the the battery of my D200 was depleted very soon) Berlin looks great at xmas time and I will definitely visit this interesting city again. You will see in the slideshow the Brandenburger Portal, the majestic cathedral and the Reichstags Building

The memorial remembering the holocaust is an impressive place. It is difficult to say if the memorial is beautiful, it is probably not the goal of the massive concret blocks. It reflects the incredible number of deaths and suffering. cold, empty, senseless.

Some images from the interesting shooting I had with Valentina some weeks ago. Valentina is young russian model with a remarkable talent for posing. I am convinced she will grow to a professional model. We experimented with fog and backlights, creating an misterious atmosphere.

The ancient city of Speyer is dominated by its impressive Dome, a marvelous piece of romanic architecture, containing the tombs of the former staufer emperors.  In the city there is also an interesting fountain, with a defeated golden dragon. The city looks back to its more then 2000 year old history and offer several touristic attraction and interesting photo-themes.

The detail images of the dome have been taken with a 300 mm Nikkor lens on a D200.

Some days ago we had a very productive shooting with Nicky, a talented young model that worked already with me last year. This time we decided to shoot “vacation”, wearing a new collection from a known German shop.

The model did a great job and show a very natural smile, the images received also already good comments on a popular german models site. We plan the next shooting soon, so stay tuned. You can see the complete collection in my Photoshelter Site

Frankfurt newest shopping mall has the name “myZeil”, where “Zeil” is the street where this new remarkable piece of architecture is located. The building is the latest work of the italian star architect Massimiliano Fuksas. The building has hardly any straight line and is built mainly by curved two dimensional planes built by triangles. It remember me to 3d-computer graphics or to the complex ceiling of the “Sagrada Familia” dome in Barcelona, Spain.  For sure the futuristic building attracts hundreds of photograhers who discover always new angles from this master piece.  I took most of the images with the 10.5 mm Nikkor, currently one of my favorites lenses as you may see in this blog.

One of the most fascinating landmarks of Patagonia (Argentina) is the mount Fitz Roy, a massive rock emerging from the Andes mountains. The mountain was known by the original inhabitants of Patagonia, and they call it “el chalten”. In the Patagonia area people still call it with its original, indigean name. “Fitz Roy” was the captain of a ship called “HMS Beagle”. The name of the captain and its ship would have been irremediably forgotten over the time, if it would not have had a famous passenger: Mr. Charles Darwin, who travelled in this area in the 19th century. The picture of the Fitz Roy shown here was taken from the small village “el Chalten” (the town is mainly visited by tourists willing to see the peak or do some trekking) very early on the morning, exactly on the point of sunrise, when the first trays illuminate the famous peak, giving a subtle rosa color to the ancient rocks. As the peak has “its own climate” its very common to have clouds arount it. I have a complete serie, but this is one of the pictures showing the peak with little clouds around.

I had recently  the opportunity to visit the ruins of Pompeji, incredible city with interesting motives.  The weather was not so good, cloudy and rainy as it seems to be often the case in that city. Never then less, the cloudy sky gives (after some BW processing) a “dramatic” touch to those walls,  in which so many roman lose their lifes.
